Tesco Finest Chicken Tikka Masala with Spiced Basmati Rice

I picked this up on a whim as part of the Tesco Finest meal deal, mostly because the "spiced basmati rice" caught my eye. Unfortunately, that was the first letdown. Honestly, I couldn't tell any difference between this and the rice from their cheaper ready meals. It was fine, but definitely not the big selling point they make it out to be.

The real problem was the sauce. It was just sweet. There was some tomato taste in there, but it was completely overpowered by a sugary taste, yuck. The only saving grace was the chicken itself, which was tender, with decent-sized pieces.

A look at the nutrition label explains a lot. With 24.8g of fat and 16g of sugar in the meal, it's no wonder the sauce tasted like that. And remember, almost all of that is packed into the curry side of the tray, not the rice.
