Higgidy Creamy Chicken & Sautéed Leek Pie

My Experience

The whole Higgidy brand was on sale at Tesco so I thought I'd give them a try. They are a bit more expensive and smaller than other pies, but it definitely feels like you're paying for quality.

I used an air fryer and it cooked perfectly, which was a good start. The pastry kept its crispiness and had a nice bite. In the filling, you could taste every ingredient they advertise; the free-range chicken, leeks, and white wine all came through in the creamy sauce. It was quite good, not amazing, but clearly made with quality components. The chicken pieces, while small like the pie, were flavourful and tender and didn't just taste like boiled bits they threw in afterward.

I quite enjoyed it, but my main gripe is the nutritional information. For what is a pretty small, 200g single-serving pie, it contains 27.3g of fat, 1.67g of salt, and a whopping 500 calories. This is supposed to be considered a snack or light meal, it certainly isn't that! I had it for lunch and was surprisingly full till dinner, this explains it.
