Next up was the ale pie, and it was somewhat disappointing, actually.

The pastry and the meat were, again, high quality and tasted good, just like the others in the range. However, this time the sauce was a letdown, it felt muted and weak. When you bit into the beef, you got a nice savoury contrast, but the sauce itself just didn't seem to add much. The ale flavour was also far too subtle for the most part.

And as with their other pies, the fat content cannot be understated at 25g. It's another indulgent pie, but harder to justify. A real shame about the weak flavour, so it's only 2 stars for this one.
