Tesco High Protein Meal, Beans Edition

The review

Next, I went for the vegan 3 Bean Chipotle Chilli with Vegetable Rice. Honestly, this was another surprisingly decent quick meal, especially considering it's plant-based and comes in at only around £2.00.

Nutritionally, it's solid: 19g of protein, 1.37g of salt, 359 calories, and it counts as 2 of your 5 a day per pack.

The meal itself is basically a chilli con carne but without the beef and loaded up with more beans (red kidney, haricot, and pinto). The sauce was nice and tomato-y with a definite chilli kick, not overpowering, but certainly noticeable. The rice and green lentil mix on the side worked really well together, providing a good texture contrast to the chilli.

My only slight raised-eyebrow? The few questionable bits of sweetcorn I found in there! Felt a bit random, perhaps Tesco just adding whatever veg they had lying around? Didn't ruin it, but seemed a bit out of place in the chilli.

Overall, though, this is a great healthy option. It's vegan-friendly, tastes genuinely nice, delivers on the protein, and is super convenient. A very good effort for a frozen ready meal.
