My Experience
I spotted these Tesco Finest "Summer Edition" Bruschettas on a limited-time promo, part of a 3 for ยฃ8 deal, so I decided to give them a try. Straight into the air fryer they went. They came out looking delicious and smelling fantastic.
My first bite was a bit of a shock. The initial flavour was just salty, which was quickly followed by the savoury notes of the Iberico cheese and tomato puree. To be honest, I wasn't impressed at first; it just seemed overly salty.
But then something interesting happened on the second bite. The flavour of the Serrano ham finally came through, cutting through the saltiness. That unique, cured taste you get from good Serrano ham mixed perfectly with the salt, creating a much more complex and enjoyable flavour. I prefers this to eating Serrano ham on its own, as that gets a bit overpowering.
I had all four pieces for my lunch and thought they were pretty nice, if a little salty. I already had my doubts of the fat and salt contents, so I looked up the nutritional information. This is where it gets wild. Those four little bruschetta contained a combined total of over 5g of salt. Considering the recommended daily limit for an adult is 6g, my lunch single-handedly accounted for most of my daily salt intake. Thatโs before even mentioning the high saturated fat content.
I can see why this is a limited-time product. Itโs a very indulgent item and definitely not a healthy snack. While the flavour journey was interesting, the nutritional facts are hard to ignore.
