The review

I gave these a try while they were on offer, as I've generally had good experiences with other stuff from The Jolly Hog. Honestly, this one was just a bit disgusting.

The main issue is an overwhelming, unhealthy fattiness. A quick look at the nutritional information explains why: at 21.3g of fat per 100g, these officially fall into the "high fat" food category as defined by the NHS. This becomes especially obvious when you air fry them, as I did; the amount of oil that renders out is excessive.

The flavour is just as disappointing. Instead of the strong, meaty taste you expect from a sausage, the first thing that hits you is a mouthful of grease. That's followed by a weird, vaguely herby leek flavour that completely overshadows the very subdued taste of the actual pork. The leek doesn't complement the meat at all, just gets in its way.

Really disappointing. 2 stars.
