My Experience

This product is a prime example of the difference between a modern food company and one whose core business is bulk supplements. The nutritional formula is genuinely impressive, packed with premium, branded ingredients that justify the purchase on paper. However, it seems 90% of the budget went into the formula and only 10% into the sensory experience. The resulting taste and texture feel like a throwback to the 2010s; honestly, it's bloody disgusting.

I was also testing Plenny Powder shakes this week, and Bulk 1 has immediately set a new low bar. My list of tried powders is short, including The Protein Works and Plenny Powder, but this is at the absolute bottom.

My baseline test is always with filtered water. As you can see from my photo, the colour is the first red flag. It's a murky brown, nothing like what you'd expect from a flavour called "WHITE Chocolate & Coconut". The texture is the next issue. The xanthan gum creates a thick, clumpy consistency that feels stuck together, all compounded by a distinct chalkiness.

Then there's the taste. You get a faint hint of coconut at the start and in the aftertaste, but the main profile is an overpowering sweetness. Despite being low in sugar, the sucralose level is immense, reminding me of the yfood classic drinks. Because of the lumpy texture, you get random, more intense hits of this sweetness, which is just vile.

I couldn't even finish the first shake. I had planned to test it with different milks, but now I am seriously considering just binning the entire bag. It was a waste of money, but I suppose the low price was a warning.

It gets two stars because the formula is genuinely excellent, but only if you can actually stomach drinking it.
