Where to Find
My Experience
As I've recently started using meal replacements, Jimmy Joy was a name that kept coming up. They are an EU-based brand that has been around for a long time and is often recommended, so I decided to see what they offer.
This is the full Try-Out Bundle from their website, which cost £55. For the customisable options, I chose the variety pack for the bars and Wild Berries for the shake powder.
Here is exactly what's included in the box:
- 1 x Plenny Shake bag (10 meals, Wild Berries)
- 1 x Plenny Bar box (12 bars, Variety Pack)
- 2 x Plenny Drinks (1 Chocolate, 1 Vanilla)
- 2 x Plenny Protein Bars (1 Brownie, 1 Cookies & Cream)
- 1 x Free Shaker and Scoop
- 1 x Welcome Pamphlet and Meme sticker
I will be writing detailed reviews for each of these products as I try them.
Regarding the bundle itself, the price may seem a bit high at first glance. The cost is justified by the fact you get to sample a wide variety of their products and receive a free shaker and scoop. If you were to buy the Plenny Shake powder in bulk, for example, it is one of the cheapest nutritionally complete meal replacements available.
All of Jimmy Joy's products are plant-based. The standard Plenny Shake line contains 20g of protein per 400-calorie serving, which is lower than some protein-focused brands but is nutritionally complete. The formula includes a good 8g of fibre, Omega-3 from flaxseed, and added probiotics (Bacillus coagulans). The sugar content is also low. For instance, the Plenny Drink contains just 9.6g of sugar per 330ml bottle, which is significantly less than the 23g found in a 500ml bottle of a yfood Classic drink.
Interestingly, the company recommends mixing the powder with only 300ml of water, and their ready-to-drink version is a compact 330ml. My guess is that this smaller serving size is how they maintain a 400-calorie meal that is both nutritionally complete and more affordable than its main competitors. The included shaker is decent, too.
As for the company's image, I honestly feel they have a bit too much of that "hello, fellow kids" energy. You can see it in the meme sticker they include in the box. I am not against playful branding, but Jimmy Joy's marketing sometimes feels slightly over the top, especially in the copy on their website and in their emails.
This post is just the introduction to the bundle. I'll be following up with focused reviews for the shake, drinks, and bars soon.
💭 Final Thoughts
For £55, this bundle provides a comprehensive introduction to the Jimmy Joy ecosystem. Getting 24 complete meals (plus two protein bar snacks) and a shaker with a scoop is an undeniable value proposition. It allows you to try the majority of their core offerings and makes one thing very clear: this brand is first and foremost about function.
While Jimmy Joy may not have the premium "bells and whistles" of brands like Huel or The Protein Works, they deliver a solid, well-researched formula. Their products are plant-based, nutritionally complete, and for the most part, have an inoffensive and palatable taste profile rather than a bold, gourmet one.
This approach revealed some clear hits and misses. The excellent texture of the drinks and the brilliant design of the Cherry meal bar were the highlights for me. Conversely, the inconsistent mixing of the protein bars and the one-dimensional sweetness of the Caramel Sea Salt bar showed that finding the right product for your palate is crucial.
While I would have liked to try their savoury Plenny Pot meals as well, it's completely understandable why they aren't included in a bundle that is already so packed with value.
As an introduction to the brand, this specific bundle gets a 4 stars rating. It's an outstanding value proposition that certainly helped me figure out exactly what I like from Jimmy Joy's functional, no-nonsense lineup.
