Amazon and Yutaka: Censoring Honest Feedback

Tech Talks

Published on 1 December 2025

Yutaka: We value your feedback... unless it's under 4 stars.

POV: You just tried to post a 2-star review.

Amazon scrubbed my detailed, honest reviews of Yutaka products the moment they gained traction. It turns out big vendors can abuse the reporting system to wipe valid 2-3 star feedback and manipulate their ratings.

I guess I must be doing something right when a big corporation spam reports my reviews on Amazon to get them removed, especially since they were gaining traction.

I was writing a review on Amazon today when I saw that my most recent product review of Yutaka has disappeared. I looked further in and yup:

"We apologise but Amazon is not accepting reviews on this product from this account. For more information or to contact us, please see our community guidelines."

I went through my list and I am sure atleast 2-3 more were also removed, all from last month, including ones that had high helpful votes. I won't be surprised if they spam report all my Yutaka related ones.

I can't even blame Amazon in this, since it is guaranteed just automated bot removal as these large partners of Amazon likely get those sort of perks.

It will be interesting to see if they remove any of the 4-star ones (they aren't getting any 5 stars from me, now or in the future for sure) or if they are only removing the 2-3 star ones.

The Verdict

So much for Amazon valuing honest, detailed reviews, aye?
