What-Cha’s Vietnam ‘Fish Hook’ Green Tea

A very interesting Vietnamese green tea. I brewed it at the recommended settings and it still has that distinctly Vietnamese roasted astringency, but with a lighter grassy aroma that almost reminds me of sencha.

What-Cha mentions corn, and I can see where that comes from, although I get more of the earthy, grainy side of corn than any real sweetness. After a few sips there is also a subtle creaminess that builds and coats the mouth, which gives the tea a surprisingly soft texture underneath the roasted, slightly drying character.

Distinctive, well balanced and a bit unusual. Not something I would mistake for a Chinese or Japanese green tea for sure.
