Ember's Biltongs

My Experience

Got these for 2.50 each from Tesco and they were actually a nice surprise for the price. They definitely live up to the 'Bigger Pack' name and pack in a good amount of protein, which is great.

The biltong itself has that proper air-dried feel but it's still easy enough to chew that brings out the flavours. They both have a pleasant tangy taste to the meat underneath it all and the chilli rub version added a really nice kick and contrast to the meat flavour, it was great stuff.

Out of the whole pack, I only found one bit that was slightly gristly, but it wasn't a big deal, the rest of the slices were full of flavour and good to chew through.

My only real gripe is the saltiness. The Chilli Rub pack alone has 2.2g(!) of salt according to the packet, which is quite a lot for one snack bag, 3 of these and you'd already pass the daily limit.

Overall though, really decent biltong, especially considering the price. If they could just ease up on the salt a bit, they'd be spot on. Definitely worth 4 stars for a tasty, high-protein snack if you don't mind the salt hit.
