Steeped on 20 April 2025

Overhead close-up of the dry Cinnamon Chai mix in a clear jar. Dark brown CTC tea granules are mixed with visible whole green cardamom pods, pieces of cinnamon bark, and other lighter spice fragments. The green Vahdam tea packet is beside it.

How I Brewed It

90C+ for 3 mins.

The dry mix has a decent chai spice smell, maybe a bit warmer than the previous Vanilla Chai attempt. You can see the CTC mixed with spice pieces and cinnamon bark.

Brewed up, the taste is still primarily a chai spice blend, built on that familiar CTC black tea base. However, unlike the vanilla version, the cinnamon actually showed up. You get a noticeable warmth and sweetness from the cinnamon, particularly at the start and through the middle of the sip. It adds a distinct character, making it less generic than just 'spiced', it feels a bit softer and warmer.

It's not bad, especially if you enjoy cinnamon, but ultimately still not really my kind of tea. One odd thing I noticed was that it left a weird residue on the inside of the glass and the strainer after brewing, maybe from finer spice dust or oils.

Overall, a step up from the Vanilla Chai fail, but still just an okay chai experience for me.
