How I Brewed It
95C for 3 & 5 mins.
From my original Amazon review:
The rose petals themselves look fine. While it doesn't look like the advertised images, these petals appear as you'd expect dried ones to be, fairly vibrant, and they have a nice rose smell straight from the jar.
However, the main problem is the taste when brewed. I've tried steeping at 95C for around 3 minutes and also for 5 minutes, and the result is consistent: the flavour is just incredibly subtle. There's a light floral note, which is to be expected from rose, but it's seriously lacking in anything else. It's so faint it's hard to even call it a properly flavoured drink, and certainly not what I'd hope for from a "tea."
Once brewed, it doesn't offer much in the way of distinct flavour or a robust aroma. Because of this significant lack of taste, it unfortunately feels more like a gimmick than a herbal tea to genuinely sit down and enjoy. These petals might perform better if mixed into a blend with other herbs or teas, rather than trying to drink them on their own. For someone looking for a stand-alone rose tea experience, this was disappointing. Finally, a word on health claims: For those interested in the health benefits often associated with roses, it's worth noting that the potency you'd get from simply steeping these petals is probably minimal. If health advantages are your main goal, exploring concentrated rose extracts or supplements would likely be more effective.
